HARDSTONE

A very fine soapstone carving of a luohan, seated on a base simulating rockwork. He holds a dog of fo which playfully tugs at his earring. The luohan has finely incised, curling hair and his face is well defined. He wears a long flowing robe, with a wave and cloud border, from which his right shoe protrudes. The stone is a mottled cream and red tone.
