A fine uncut soapstone seal surmounted by a seated dog of fo, its face is well carved with bushy eyebrows, a broad muzzle and a beard, and it has a muscular body with a scaled chest and notched spine. The soapstone is a mottled cream and red tone, the dog with traces of red pigment. The side is inscribed jin shi tong shou (bronze and stone are likewise everlasting) and a seal reading [ ] nian (possibly the name of the carver or owner but, more likely, an expression representing endurance over time).
