Western Han dynasty
Height: 19 3/4 in, 50.2 cm
the young woman is kneeling with the soles
of her shoes visible under her long robes at
the back, and holes at the ends of her arms
for the insertion of separately made hands.

Northern Qi dynasty
Height: 7 1/4 in, 18.4 cm
each ovoid body stands on a low, spreading, bevelled, solid foot, and has a tapering neck.

supported on a conical foot ring, the pearshaped body rises to a waisted neck and terminates in a flared rim.

Diameter: 6 in, 15.3 cm
from a straight foot ring, the sides flare steeply, round gently at the shoulder to a constricted neck and terminate in a flared rim with six petals, giving the appearance of an open flower.

Height: 10 3/4 in, 27.3 cm
standing in a serene position with his hands held before him in waifu quanyin (signifying release from the bondage of the passions, and symbolising the heart and compassion of the Buddha).

of circular form, the sides round gently then flare upwards from the recessed base.

each well-rounded, pear-shaped body has a long, tapering neck terminating in an everted, rolled rim and is supported on a spreading foot ring.
