A fine and large blanc-de-Chine figure of Guanyin standing with her hands held in front of her. Guanyins head is turned slightly to the left and her features are serene with downcast eyes. Her hair, tied in a cloth head-dress and fixed with an elaborate diadem at the centre of which is a portrayal of Buddha, falls in tresses over her shoulders. She wears long flowing robes which fall in graceful folds over a dhoti; her left foot protrudes from the hem. She wears a lotus necklace and bracelets. The figure is covered with a bluish-white glaze and the back is impressed with a four-character seal mark reading pu ji yu ren (virtue extends [even] to fishermen). |
