130 A pair of rare and fine ivory and lacquered wood figures of female Immortals, each standing with her arms held in a graceful pose. Their ivory faces, hands and feet are delicately carved; the faces bear gently smiling expressions. Their hair is piled into chignons. They wear black robes gathered into bows at the knees, with gilt floral borders, over trousers, and capes and aprons, in feathers or embroidery, reversed on each figure. One has a stem of lingzhi fungus over her shoulder and the other a stem hanging from her belt. The figures stand on painted wood bases. 18th century Total height: 12 1/2”, 31.7 cm These figures are particularly rare, the quality of the lacquer is very fine and the ivory faces are sensitively rendered.
