This dating is consistent with Oxford Authentication’s report P101h62.

The shape is based on bronze wine vessels of the Warring States and Han periods but it is extremely rare to find an example in ceramic.

A rare and fine Northern blackware vessel (fanghu)
Song, Jin or Yuan dynasty
Height: 11 1/2 in, 29 cm

of bronze form, the square-section body rises from a spreading foot to a swollen belly and a waisted neck and terminates in a slightly flared rim. The shoulders are moulded with two bold lion masks suspending rings. The vessel is covered with layers of thick, lustrous brownish-black glaze that is a lighter brown to the lower body, masks and rings where it is thinner. The foot rim is unglazed revealing the grey stoneware body.
